Onokoba Sabo Mirai Museum

Onokoba Sabo Mirai Museum is the facility to monitor the Sabo (erosion control) works of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
From the observation deck on the 3rd floor, visitors can overlook the Sabo facilities to respond to the eruption of Mt Unzen-Fugendake. The Museum also has exhibit panels and videos about the disasters caused by the Heisei Eruption. Visitors can learn extensively about volcanic disasters and disaster preparedness by further including a visit to the former Onokoba Elementary School building, which was destroyed by the Heisei Eruption and has been preserved next to the Museum.
