Mt. Unzen Visitor Center
Mt. Unzen Visitor Center was set up by Ministry of the Environment and exhibits the highlights of the Unzen-Amakusa National Park.
The latest information on seasonal plants and observable birds of Unzen, including Miyama-Kirishima azalea (or Kyushu azalea) in spring, Japanese dogwood in summer, red-colored leaves in autumn, and rime ice in winter are provided in the Center. The Center also has the exhibits explaining the differences between the 3 volcanic springs of Shimabara, Unzen, and Obama, as well as the mechanism of generating those springs.
